How to Use IceStride™ After Exercise
One of our objectives when developing IceStride was simplicity. Horse care doesn’t always need another complicated routine. So here’s how we’ve designed IceStride to fit into yours.
STEP 1 – Finish your horse’s work
After exercise, untack your horse and remove leg protection. Always take the opportunity to inspect the horse’s legs carefully. Look and feel for anything unusual such as swelling, excessive localised heat, sensitivity, broken skin or injury.
IceStride is a routine post-exercise care product and is not a substitute for veterinary assessment where injury is suspected.
STEP 2 – Apply IceStride
Use the continuous spray to apply an even mist over the required external area. The continuous delivery system means you can move smoothly along the leg rather than repeatedly squeezing a conventional trigger.
STEP 3 – Allow evaporation to do its thing
Then leave IceStride to evaporate. The volatile components of the formulation evaporate from the surface, taking heat energy with them as part of the evaporation process.
STEP 4 – Botanical post-exercise care
The formulation also includes arnica and witch hazel. Arnica has a long tradition of topical use in preparations associated with post-exercise body care, while witch hazel is widely used for its astringent and soothing properties. They are part of the reason IceStride was designed as more than simply a product that feels cold.
STEP 5 – Carry on with your normal routine
That’s it. Which is precisely the point. We wanted IceStride to be something that was easy enough to become a habit rather than another tub at the back of the tack room.
Can I use IceStride with my HUSK products?
IceStride has been developed to sit naturally alongside the HUSK approach to leg care. Our philosophy is simple: think about heat during exercise; think about cooling after exercise. Always follow the directions and cautions on the IceStride label, and allow the product to be used as directed before applying other equipment.
One final point
A post-exercise spray should never replace actually looking at your horse. Get to know what your horse’s legs normally feel like. If you discover unexplained heat, swelling, pain, lameness, broken skin or anything else that concerns you, seek appropriate professional or veterinary advice.
For ordinary post-exercise days, however, we’ve made the routine wonderfully simple.
