HUSK founder Louise has been a huge fan of natural horsemanship, valuing the importance of understanding the horse in its natural habitat and using connection methods to help the horse bond instinctively with the human. In 2011 5 years before even the seed of thought if HUSK was planted in Louise's brain, Louise attended a workshop run by Monty at Bury Farm, Leighton Buzzard, UK. Louise also has many books written by Monty Roberts that still sit on her work desk today. So in 2021 when Louise received a call from Monty Robert's daughter Debbie Loucks to interview her about the origins of HUSK along side US top polo player Nic Roldan, for the first time ever Louise as star struck! California is 8 hours behind, so the interview was held at 9pm UK time, and Louise was sitting in her office in the dark! The first interview launched on 30/09/21 on Horse Radio Network, on the HorsemanshipRadio.com channel both Louise and Debbie talked for quite sometime about Louise's philosophy of creating products that aim to protect horses without compromising their natural health markers and systems, hence the HUSK hash tag #liberateperformance Link to listen to HUSK's first interview with Debbie Loucks here also featuring Nic Roldan: https://www.horseradionetwork.com/2021/09/192-by-hands-on-gloves-polo-legend-nic-roldan-natural-wellness-for-equestrians/ Forward into the future Louise and Debbie re connected in 2023 to progress the conversation further and deeper. To identify the effects of leg protection on horse wellness and how HUSK La Irenita Air Sport boots are designed to minimise these effects and keep horse leg temperatures cool. Debbie did not prepare Louise for the questions that she had, and the questions were not for the faint hearted! But it gave Louise the opportunity to expose some difficult truths about leg protection and how HUSK have worked tirelessly, and are still working, to overcome these challenges for the well being of the horse. This interview went live on Horse Radio Network, on the HorsemanshipRadio.com channel on 01/05/24. As the Winter sets in and temperatures drop, the question is “are breathable horse boots needed?” or should we be using fluffy boots with the aim to keep our horse or pony’s leg’s snug and warm? Did you know that horse’s legs have less vascularisation than other parts of the body?  What does that mean?  […] The post Cold Weather & Breathable Horse Boots appeared first on TheHUSK.
Water Dripping off of Horse Boot

Do you see more skin irritation when the weather is wet?  Or if your horse is prone to sweating promoting wet conditions under saddle or under leg protection? Studies show that when skin comes into contact with water the risk of irritation is increased.  They also show that as the temperature of water increases, irritation […] The post Effect of Water on Your Horse or Pony’s Skin appeared first on TheHUSK.

Studies on tendons have shown that with age and/or exercise tendon degeneration and a decrease in the quality of the fibres are observed.1 This phenomenon translates into signs of weakness visible to the naked eye: 70% of owners have already noticed signs of tendon damage (heat, swelling, etc.) without marked lameness. If these signs appear too frequently and […] The post Tendon Degeneration and Signs of Weakness appeared first on TheHUSK.
